Bucks

Marcus

Several years ago, we had the opportunity to work with a few nubians from the Lonestar Sky herd. All were large-statured animals, with excellent feet and legs. When Marcus became available as a young kid, we decided to bring him into our herd and try him out. His dam is a favorite doe of her breeders, with tremendous stature, dairy character, and mammary. Marcus is a very tall, uphill, long-bodied buck, with great feet and legs, width, and Nubian head. He is producing heavy-bodied kids, many of whom carry his roan coloring. I especially appreciate his mild-mannered demeanor. He goes through rut very quietly, always amenable to handling.

His sire is SGCH PRICE-O-THE-FIELD  ROYAL MARCUS, with an LA score of 93EEE. Marcus is the product of a successful AI breeding. We are so happy to have him in our herd! In his first season at Adagio Farm, he was used sparingly. He and Tim came the same year, and we bred heavily from Tim. In 2017, however, we used Marcus for much of the breeding. The 2018 kid crop was very successful, albeit predominated by bucklings. Pictures from this year’s batch of kids may be seen in the Gallery.

Tim is a massive animal whose  strengths are in stature, rear udder arch, front shoulders, and beautiful nubian breed character.  He has the refinement and dairy character that I love about the Wingwood nubian, and it is a great privilege to have his genetics in our herd. Out of Wingwood Farm Tim’s Althea, and full brother to Wingwood Farm TL Aviva, our “Tim” is surrounded by close pedigree to some of Wingwood’s great Nubian milkers.

Tim came to Adagio Farm in the spring of 2015 at two months of age. Since that time, he has produced the finest kids ever born in our herd. Having scaled back in 2018 to a small group of does (mostly his daughters), we have sold Tim to another herd close by, maintaining access to his genetics.
